“Grungey sound[s] laced with funk-driven, dreamy rock ’n’ roll.”
Labyrinthine Oceans are a North East based female fronted experimental alt rock band (try saying that three times), which fully formed in early 2022. They create dreamscapes of guitar based noise, featuring soaring guitar solos and sultry but slightly gritty vocals. Inspired by 90s alt, grunge, psychedelia, shoegaze and good old rock and roll, they create something that is not necessarily identifiable but very much exciting.
No strangers to press, Labyrinthine Oceans were featured on BBC Introducing with their demos throughout 2021, with them later becoming a regular feature of the show throughout 2022, catching the attention of presenter Nick Roberts who put them on his BBC Introducing stage at Summer Streets Festival 2022. They’ve also been regulars in NARC. Magazine, receiving Demo of the Month for ‘Liar Liar (studio demo)’ in September 2021, a fantastic review of their demos album ‘Visions from Below’ and a spot on NARC. Editor Claire Dupree’s stage at Last Train Home Festival in Darlington. They’ve also featured in The Crack magazine and NE Volume Magazine, being put on NE Volume’s top 10 must see artists in 2023.
Eclectic sounds, uplifting gloom and cynicism define Labyrinthine Oceans’ sound, with notes of 90’s alternative, grunge, funk, jazz and dream-rock.
